Jayson Belt’s career began as the front man for the Los Angeles based recording group, The Red West. The Red West formed in late 2001 and was signed by Atlantic Records in early 2003. Their self-titled debut album opened to great reviews nationally. All songs were either written or co-written by Belt and touring through the first few years was extensive. The band partnered with artists including the Dave Matthews Band, Dashboard Confessional, Something Corporate, The Vans Warped Tour, Counting Crows, Maroon 5 and many more.
The Red West put out an EP independently after their Atlantic released title. Since then, Jayson has been working with Bobby Hartry (Emmy winning songwriter and producer). The duo have made waves in the television library world. Changing the face of what is standard for library tracks. Their focus on quality songwriting and musicianship has garnered them phenomenal placement success. In the past 5 years, over 70 of Jayson and Bob’s songs have been placed on a variety of shows from American Idol, Ghost Whisperer and Cougar Town to 20/20 and General Hospital.
Jayson’s debut full length album, “Poor Penmanship” features his soulful vocals and smart yet rugged songwriting. He is joined by acclaimed musicians Aaron Sterling, Greg Liesz, Sara Watkins, Jonathan Ahrens, Ben West, Kris Pooley, and Bobby Hartry. “Poor Penmanship” was released in 2015 via CatBeach Music.
